For decades, healthcare has run on fax. Imaging results from mobile sites, test results from third-party labs, advance directives from patients, care plans, birth plans, intake forms. Most of it still arrives as paper or as a PDF attached to a fax. VedaPointe built VedaPointe.Send on the Botdoc SDT Engine to replace that workflow with a fast, secure, mobile-friendly channel that lives inside the clinician's EPIC workflow.
Patients receive a text or email. Patients respond from their phone. The reply lands directly inside EPIC, attached to the right patient record, ready for the practitioner. No portal. No app. No administrative staff routing paper between systems. The provider workflow improves because clinicians stop chasing missing documents. Patient experience improves because there is no login screen between the patient and what their clinical team needs from them. Compliance posture improves at the same time because Protected Health Information never persists in a third-party system that would otherwise have to be examined under HIPAA.
Patient communication has been stuck between two bad options. Fax is slow, paper-based, and operationally expensive. Patient portals require the patient to create an account, remember a password, and log in every time you need a document, which most patients abandon. The result is administrative staff fielding phone calls, scanning paper, and chasing the same forms over and over.
VedaPointe.Send removes the patient-side login entirely. Protected Health Information moves through an encrypted, stateless transport that satisfies HIPAA Security Rule transmission requirements and is invisible to the patient. They just see a text or email. They reply. The provider sees it inside EPIC attached to the right chart with no manual routing. Building VedaPointe.Send on the SDT Engine API rather than on a portal-based secure file transfer product produced five outcomes specific to healthcare workflows. Each maps to a capability the SDT Engine exposes natively. Together they replace the fax-and-portal stack that has historically governed clinical communication with a single bidirectional channel that fits inside the EPIC chart.
